We then calculated total cost of ownership for these vehicles over five years based on manufacturer suggested retail prices, depreciation, taxes and fees, fuel costs, insurance cars, interest, and anticipated maintenance, opportunity costs and repairs. The top seven hybrid, electric or diesel vehicles that had the lowest costs made our list.
